WIBTA if I exchsnged a suit my friend bought for a different color?

Hi everyone

I was a groomsman on my friends wedding. They wanted everyone to wear the same color suit, it's a $500 suit and I had to be straight up with him and tell him I couldn't afford it, nor even close. I felt kinda ashamed but we are a single income family, I provide for 3 people and we live week to week. He very kindly bought the suit for me. I told him I'd sell it afterwards to try to recoup the costs but he insisted it's for me to wear and enjoy.

The thing is, I would never wear this outside of his wedding. I just hate how I look in it. I've explained the whole thing to the lady at the store, that I've worn it once and asked if she would allow me to exchange it for a different color. She graciously agreed, stating she usually wouldn't but decided to this time.
