AITA for thinking I have a right to know about my partner’s attraction towards a friend?
My partner (26F) and I (26F) are in a 4-year relationship. Recently, I experienced a crush and told my partner about it. I didn’t want to hide and I wanted to have open communication about attraction outside of our relationship (which happens). This resulted in her sharing with me that she has held attraction to someone for >1 year, but refused to reveal who, and was generally very uncomfortable talking about it. This information surprised me because we had approached similar situations very differently.
I asked a few times after that for more information and she was strongly defensive and adamant about not telling me who, except that it was a man, and someone a part of her/our lives. My curiosity and also concern grew, and I recently guessed the person by observing their interactions. When I asked her about it, she confirmed, then got extremely angry.
She says that I have crossed her boundaries by pursuing this when she clearly said she didn’t want to talk about it. Not knowing and the added secrecy had been bothering me, and I said that it affects both me and our relationship, which is why I had a right to know and kept pursuing. She says its not my right to know, and hers alone.
I’m open to being wrong here, just looking for some outside opinions. Thanks
