Been a year in Hyderabad and I'm planning to permanently settle here. How to learn Telugu?

I'm from Lucknow, hence my mother tongue is Hindi. I know very basic words such as "Cheppu" (and it's variations), meru, nanu, and "meru dial chestunna number prastutam busy la undi" etc.

I know most people advice to talk to natives, but I'm not a very social person and if I want to talk to natives then that itself would be a bigger challenge than learning the language. How did other northies who moved to Telangana learnt it?
