Is it just me, or do a lot of people genuinely struggle with remote work?
I'm genuinely surprised by the number of people who are completely lost when it comes to actual remote work. I worked fully remote for about 8 years until things changed about a year and a bit ago. Now I'm only allowed to work from home on Thursdays. (I've been looking for a fully remote job again for about a year and a half, unfortunately without much luck).
Anyway, on these Thursdays, it's crazy how many team members disappear for hours. They are completely silent on messages or emails. And if they ask to work remotely on another day, say Wednesday, it's the exact same story. It's truly unbelievable.
Honestly, I don't blame our manager for being concerned about remote work when people misuse this privilege in this way. I've especially noticed that some long-term colleagues genuinely struggle with this. It's as if, without being in the office to 'show their face', they don't know how to manage their time or their tasks. It's very frustrating to witness.
