The weird exam ritual my friends built out of three different cultures

I know this subreddit is still really small and the activity is low but that kind of makes it feel like a quiet common room so I wanted to share this here. I study at a university in Germany and live in a dorm hallway that is basically a tiny United Nations. My closest friends here are from Brazil, India and Poland and at the start of the semester we were all freaking out about upcoming exams in completely different ways. One night we were cooking together and started talking about the strange little things people at home do before big tests. My Brazilian friend said her high school class used to wear the same color socks for every exam because the teacher joked that green attracts good luck. The Indian friend told us about her mom making sweet rice on the morning of board exams because starting the day with something sweet is supposed to make the result sweet too. I said that in my family my dad always texts a super lame pun as a good luck message and now I feel weird if I do not get one. Somehow we mixed all of that into our own ritual. On every exam day we meet in the kitchen at 7 30, eat something sweet even if it is just cheap chocolate, compare our socks and then my dad sends one pun to the whole group chat instead of just me. It is obviously not magic but there is something very comforting about carrying tiny pieces of four countries into the exam hall together. I am curious if anyone else here has created new student traditions like this that only exist because you met people from other places.
