Which yarn to go for?

So, I've been crocheting for a couple of weeks now, and have got ganga desire as my first yarn. I like the yarn, easy to work with, but the major drawback I've come across is that it splits after froggung several times and it doesn't look very much neat, so I'd like to shift to a cotton yarn.

Suggest me some good cotton yarn brands and if skipping to cotton yarn is a good idea or should I go for premium acrylic yarn as in from magicneedles or smth?
