Cyber insurance quote doubled after we disclosed AI usage in application apparently AI is high risk now
Renewing cyber insurance and last year we paid $18k annual premium. So we filled out renewal honestly including our new AI features and got the quote back at $38k, more than double. Called our broker and he said insurance companies now treat AI as high risk because most companies don't know where their training data goes or how models might leak information.
I tried to explain we have security controls and certifications but broker said underwriters want proof that AI processing can't result in data exposure even in breach scenarios. Now we are choosing between paying double, dropping AI features, or going uninsured. Has anyone else dealt with this?
