Parking for the Saints vs Panthers game this Sunday?

hey everyone, figured i'd share some parking advice for the saints game against the panthers this weekend at the caesars superdome. getting in and out of there can be a real headache if you don't have a plan.

honestly the best thing i've found is this app called prked. you can rent someones private driveway or garage right next to the caesars superdome for the game. it's usually way cheaper than the big lots and you get to park in a reserved spot and just walk over. saves you from sitting in the crazy traffic jams right around the stadium after the game.

if you want to go the official route, the superdome has garages 1, 2, 5, and 6, plus the champions garage. be warned, a lot of these spots are for season ticket holders, so the public spots get taken super fast. they also have some lots like 1a and 3 that are first come, first served. expect to pay a lot and you should also know they do security screenings of cars in some of the garages before you even get in, so that can slow things down.

there are a ton of other private lots and garages downtown in the central business district. you'll see guys waving flags to pull you in. the price goes up the closer you get to the dome, and a lot of them are cash only, even though the dome itself is cashless. booking a spot ahead of time on a parking app like spothero is a good move to guarantee you have a place to go. some of these garages are a decent walk, but it can be worth it to avoid the worst of the traffic.

i would not recommend trying to find street parking. it's almost impossible to find a spot on game day and you have to worry about time limits and restrictions. you really don’t want to be running out to feed a meter or get your car towed.

my biggest advice is to get there early. i’m talking like 3-4 hours before kickoff. the streets around the dome, especially poydras, get completely packed. if you wait, you’ll be stuck in gridlock. another option is to park further away, maybe along the streetcar line, and just ride that in. it's a cool way to see the city and you'll have a much easier time leaving.
