US Powerwall / solar / EV owners – what are you still doing manually to keep the bill down?

Hi everyone, We’re a small founder team (not Tesla or a utility) building a new home energy app for U.S. households with rooftop solar, home batteries and EVs. The idea is simple: automate the annoying parts — EV charging schedules, when to use solar vs battery vs grid, and pre-cooling/heating — so that, within a comfort range you choose, your bill ends up as low as it reasonably can without you micromanaging timers and settings. In practice, you’d tell the app a few simple constraints (for example, the indoor temperature range you’re happy with and how much charge you need on your EV before you leave). Then we’d use your rate plan, solar/battery setup and typical routine to decide when to pre-cool or pre-heat, when to charge the EV, and when to charge or discharge the battery in the background. We’d like to talk to people in the U.S. who have rooftop solar, a home battery (e.g. Powerwall) and/or at least one EV, and hear how you actually handle this today and what feels broken or missing. We’re doing Google Meet conversations planned for around 30 minutes, with the option to go longer if we both want to dig in. As a thank-you, we use a simple rule: $30 per 30 minutes of interview time. If you’re interested, please fill out the short Google Form linked in this post — we’ll reach out by email if you’re a good fit for this round. No sales pitch, no obligation — we just don’t want to build something useless. Thanks to anyone willing to share: your feedback will directly shape what we build and what the app ends up automating by default. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScGp1tPE4cDM0nzH-P_AI1nS1K8mJDlIHSb127eYJvMXCC3Uw/viewform?usp=header
