IDL how so many apps let kids spend money freely without any parental approval. To me, that is a product design failure.

I was chatting with a neighbor when I heard a parent say that his child spent 120 dollars on game items without anyone in the house noticing. He said, “I can’t believe my kid can just charge my card like that.” While listening to the story, I kept thinking about something else. Even if the kid knows the payment password, how does the system allow a seven or eight year old to make purchases that easily?

This is not just a child being mischievous. It is a design flaw in the entire app. There is no identity check before purchases, the parental controls barely work, and the transaction notifications are too slow. If a seven year old can casually spend hundreds of dollars, what does financial safety even mean?

Some people might argue that kids will always test their limits with money, but the system should protect them instead of turning them into test subjects.
