heading for 49ers vs titans parking @ levi's stadium? figured i'd share some tips
what's up faithful, with the titans game coming up i know people are probably starting to stress about parking. honestly it can be a total nightmare if you dont have a plan. figured i'd share what i've learned from going to games over the years.
first up, something new i've been using is an app called prked. it lets you rent someones private driveway or garage right next to levi's stadium. its been way cheaper than the official lots and you totally skip the insane traffic jam on great america parkway trying to get into the main lots. you just park in a neighborhood and take a short walk over. definitely worth checking out before you pay for the stadium spots.
if you're going the traditional route, you have to prepay for a pass for the official levi's stadium lots online, and do it early because they sell out. if you don't, you might find a credit card lot day-of but it'll cost more. the lots open hours before kickoff, and you need to get there early. i'm not kidding, the traffic on 101, 237, and great america parkway gets insane. people have said it's the worst traffic jam they've ever seen. leaving is just as bad, it can take an hour or two just to get out of the parking lot. tasman drive also closes down pretty early in the day, so watch out for that.
honestly the best advice i can give you is to take public transportation if you can. the VTA light rail drops you off right at the stadium. a lot of people drive to a vta station like the one in mountain view or milpitas, park for free or super cheap, and then just hop on the train with a bunch of other niner fans. it's easy and you avoid all the traffic stress. the only downside is the trains get crazy packed on the way home and you might have to wait a while, but it's still better than sitting in your car going nowhere. you can also connect from caltrain or bart if you're coming from farther away.
there are also some other cash lots run by businesses in the office parks around the stadium, like over on patrick henry drive. they're usually cheaper than the official lots but you probably can't tailgate there. still a decent option if you're just trying to find a spot. some people even park on the street in a neighborhood a mile or two away and walk, but i'd be careful with that and read the signs.
anyway, just wanted to put that out there for anyone trying to figure it out. getting to the stadium can be a hassle but it's always worth it.
hope this helps and go niners
