how competitive am I for PhD programs in Management?
I'm applying to business schools for PhDs in management, focused on the macro/sociology-oriented side of the discipline. I'm curious as to what my chances might look like, given that I am applying to 9 R1 programs. I'm applying straight out of undergrad, but I know for a fact that this is what I want to do, and my SOPs are explicitly tailored to faculty interests and opportunities available at each program I'm applying to.
I have a 3.94 GPA at a small liberal arts school; in the GRE, I obtained a 99th percentile verbal score, a strong writing score, and a 165 (67th percentile) on quant. I am a business major and have double minored in philosophy and an interdisciplinary humanities minor. I am also part of the honors program at my college, and have had very strong involvement in extracurriculars (student government, Greek life leadership, etc.)
I've worked on multiple independent (faculty-mentored) research projects, mostly in sociology and on a business teaching case study: no publications, multiple conference presentations, 2 WIPs aimed at publication. All my independent research work has been qualitative.
I'm worried about my lack of coursework in math (only have taken two courses in statistics and one in data analytics so far; however, I'm enrolled in courses in linear algebra and predictive analytics that I'm taking next semester), and the mediocre GRE quant score relative to other applicants at some of my top choices.
