Did I accidentally drunk-buy the wrong laptop for my CS degree? (Snapdragon Zenbook A14)
So I need some advice because I may have made a highly questionable but deeply discounted decision.
I’m going into my 3rd year as a Computer Science major and needed a new laptop. My old MacBook from middle school (aka the goat) still works great with no issues, but it doesn’t meet my department’s “tech requirements” — 16GB RAM, 8-core CPU, 512GB SSD, etc.
Fast-forward to The day after thanksgiving: I’m linked up with all my hometown boys playing beer dye then we’re out at a bar, so I’m pretty hammered, and for some reason my drunk brain decides THIS is the moment to upgrade my entire college setup. So I buy the ASUS Zenbook A14 with the Snapdragon X Plus chip for $549. Great deal… except I somehow didn’t process what “Snapdragon” meant until the next morning when I was viewing my purchase.
So my question is: will this be good enough for my last two years of school and maybe a bit after? I’ve already taken my Linux and low-level/assembly courses, and I’m not planning on doing anything super low-level going forward and I’m not planning to do anything wild like writing kernels in my free time.
Would love to hear if this laptop is good enough or Any feedback or experience with Snapdragon laptops would be appreciated!
