“The Holy Spirit is the legitimate and divinely authorized interpreter of the Bible.”

Several biblical passages indicate that true understanding of Scripture comes only through the Holy Spirit. Jesus promises in John 16:13 that the Spirit “will guide you into all truth,” implying that human reasoning, tradition, and denominational doctrines are insufficient on their own. Paul reinforces this in 1 Corinthians 2:14, stating that “the natural man cannot understand the things of the Spirit of God” because they are spiritually discerned. This means that accurate interpretation does not come from seminaries, religious institutions, or personal intellect, but from the Spirit who inspired the Scriptures in the first place (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21). As the author and revealer of divine truth, the Holy Spirit alone can illuminate the true meaning of the biblical text. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is the sole official interpreter of Scripture.
