How do big clothing brands shoot their flat lay photos? (Carhartt, Levi’s, Zara, etc.)
Hey everyone,
I’m trying to improve my flat lay clothing photography and I want to achieve the clean, consistent look used by big fashion brands like Carhartt, Levi’s, Zara, and Uniqlo.
I’m particularly curious about:
– Lighting setup
(softbox sizes, placement, shadow control, diffusion, key/fill ratios)
– Camera placement
(perfect top-down angle, using a boom arm or overhead rig)
– Light power settings
(how strong the key should be vs the fill)
– White balance
(fixed Kelvin, gray card, or custom profile?)
– Background choices
(white vs light grey for best consistency)
– Styling tips
(how they keep clothing perfectly smooth and symmetrical)
If anyone has experience in product/fashion photography, I’d love to hear how you set up your shots.
Diagrams, photos, or lighting breakdowns would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
