Serious question : how is China's economic policy different from Lenin's New Economic Policy ?
The question is : fundamentally, how is China's economic policy different from Lenin's New Economic Policy ?
I know that in the USSR is was mostly about agricultural production, and I am aware of the differences of context, but fundamentally, isn't this all about making some room for "a free market and capitalism, both subject to state control" ?
China seems happy to let common people enrich themselves and do business, as long as the party keeps the upper hand on global strategic decisions and also reigns in billionaires so that they don't obtain significant political leverage (and it seems to work pretty well so far). Isn't this very much like what Lenin tried to do with the NEP ?
Please remain civil, I am not knowledgeable enough and just seeking guidance.
