For those already in IIM A/B/C ,does a pre-MBA background in Financial Markets actually give you an edge during Summer Placements?
I’m looking at the curriculum and it seems like a lot of the first-year finance subjects (Corporate Valuation, Markets, etc.) overlap heavily with what I did in my undergrad. I’m wondering if this actually translates to a real advantage during summer placements for Investment Banking or PE roles, or if everyone starts on a level playing field regardless of their background? I feel like I have the technicals down (SMC, valuations), but I'm worried I might be overestimating how much that matters compared to just raw CAT scores and pedigree. Would love to hear thoughts from current students.
