Buying a beater daily in EU

Hey guys! I'm looking to buy a daily as cheap as possible, ideally under 4000€ or less, based in Czechia. I don't care about fun, already have a built up Clio 2 RS for that :). Are there any hidden gems I should be looking for that have massively depreciated in value? It will be used mostly for winter driving and a 2 hour highway commute that I do twice a week (uni), so I was thinking a diesel maybe? The cheaper the running cost, the better. All help appreciated.
