Thangalaan shows greed through the hunger for gold and natural resources. Powerful people force a tribal community to search for gold in dangerous conditions. The land that once belonged to the community is no longer seen as their home. It is seen only as something that can make money. The people suffer, lose their freedom, and are treated as tools for someone else’s profit. The film shows that this greed is not just personal. It is a system where powerful rulers and landlords work together, and the pain of the workers becomes the base of their wealth.

Kaala shows greed through the desire to control urban land. Here, the powerful want to take over land where poor communities live and turn it into profit-making real estate. The people living there are treated as obstacles, not as humans with history and identity. The greed is not about revenge or personal gain. It is about removing people from their own space so that money and power can grow. The fight in Kaala is between community life and corporate greed.

These films also show that greed destroys more than just homes or bodies. It destroys identity, culture, and dignity. In Thangalaan, the bond between people and their land is broken. In Kaala, the memory and life of a community is under threat. The land means life to the people, but it means profit to the greedy.
