Men, what actually motivates you to be romantic towards a woman?

This question has been inspired by a comment I saw here on PPD saying that the reason men don’t act romantic toward their partners is because they’ve settled for them

I want to understand whether romance is actually linked to attraction/interest, or if it’s more about personality, effort, or relationship stage
