Living each day for the memories

Technique

I've had a breakthrough in my productivity that happened through shifting where I derive my happiness from.

I do a short journal entry each day, and for each journal entry I was creating a title for the previous day.

By giving the day a title, it made me want to do something worthy of a title.

This started to shift how I was living each day. Instead of focusing on my happiness in the day, or just getting things done, I started to think about the day in terms of what would make a great memory.

I started to do more things that were hard, or things I didn't want to do but should do, because I knew they would be something I look back fondly on.

It has also made me realize that happiness in amy moment is less important than the happiness I can experience from memories.

So now I find myself living for the memories. I'm asking my self "What can I do today that my future self will thank me for?" or "What can I do today that I'll look back on and love that I did?"

I'm feeling more productive, and its not just about getting things done, but about getting things done that really move the needle in terms of my life and happiness.
