Free Parking for Chicago Bears vs. Cleveland Browns at Soldier Field (Chicago 12/14)
hey figured i'd share some parking tips for the bears game on sunday since it's always a mess down there.
if you're looking for free parking there's some street parking around 1469 south prairie avenue. it's a bit of a walk, probably 15-20 minutes, and you have to get there super early to snag a spot, but it's free. just make sure you read the signs carefully cause they do tow during games.
honestly a better way to do it is with an app called Prked. you can rent someone's private driveway or garage right next to soldier field. it's way cheaper than the official lots and you're not stuck in that insane traffic jam on lake shore drive for an hour after the game. you just park and take a short walk to the stadium, super easy.
if you're set on official parking, the main lots like the north garage and waldron deck are mostly for season ticket holders. your best bet is to park at the mccormick place lot b. they have a free shuttle that drops you off on 18th st right by the stadium and it runs for two hours after the game. it's a good way to avoid the worst of the traffic chaos immediately around the field. there's also the 31st street lot that has a shuttle too. just remember all those lots open about four hours before kickoff and they fill up fast.
a few other random tips, don't even bother trying to find street parking closer to the stadium unless you have a neighborhood permit, they restrict everything for games. another option is to just take the cta. the red, green, and orange lines all stop at roosevelt, which is about a 15 min walk to the stadium and you don't have to worry about parking at all. if you're using rideshare, they have a specific drop-off spot at the 18th drive turnaround and you have to get picked up at columbus and balbo, north of the stadium.
hope this helps a bit. should be a good game, go bears
