Anyone here put their private electric car into their Einzelunternehmen for tax purposes
Hey all,
I’ve been looking into this topic and I’m hoping someone here has real experience with it.
I’m a freelancer (Einzelunternehmer) and I’ve got a Hyundai electric car that I bought in December 2020. So it’s about four years old now, which means I should still have two years of depreciation left if I turn it into a business asset. Purchase price was around 34k.
Since it’s fully electric, it seems like I could use the 0.25% rule instead of the usual 1% private use rule, and that part looks pretty attractive. From what I understand, I’d basically add a small “private use” amount to my taxable income each year, and in return I could deduct the remaining depreciation plus insurance, service, charging, etc.
My question is:
Is it actually worth doing this when the car wasn’t originally bought as a business car and has already been used privately for four years?
And do people here generally find the 0.25% rule + remaining depreciation combo worthwhile, or is it more hassle than benefit?
Would love to hear how others handled this, especially I'd like to know what would be the process for doing this, right now I'm doing my expenses and bookkeeping myself with Sevdesk. how would this whole considering it as company asset works?
