Free Parking for Kansas City Chiefs v Los Angeles Chargers at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium (Kansas City 12/14)
hey figured i'd share some parking advice for the chargers game on sunday since it can be a total mess.
i've heard of people finding free parking northeast of the stadium in some of the business parking lots off Blue Ridge Cutoff. it's a bit of a walk, and honestly you run the risk of getting towed so it's a gamble. but if you're trying to save cash that's probably your best bet for a free spot.
if you don't wanna risk it, i've been using this app called Prked. people who live super close to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium rent out their driveways for game day. it's way cheaper than the official lots and you're just a short walk away. the best part is skipping all that insane traffic trying to get out of the main lots after the game. you just walk to your car and drive off while everyone else is stuck for an hour.
if you're going the official route, you HAVE to buy your parking pass online before you go. they dont take cash at the gates anymore and your pass is on your phone. lots open like 4.5 hours before kickoff, and you need to get there early. i mean seriously early. the traffic getting into the complex is no joke and the lots closest to the stadium fill up first. once you're in, the traffic flows counter-clockwise.
leaving the stadium lots is the worst part. plan on waiting a long, long time just to get out. a lot of people just start tailgating again after the game to wait for the traffic to die down, which is a pretty good strategy.
some other options are the church across the street that sometimes charges around $20-25 for parking, and some of the hotels nearby might have spots for cash too. using uber or lyft is okay for getting there, but trying to get a ride after the game is a disaster, so i wouldn't count on it for your ride home. the pickup area is at the Missouri Welcome Center on Blue Ridge Cutoff.
anyway, it's gonna be a great game against the chargers. hope this helps someone out! go chiefs
