Resmed MyAir App Region Lock

Hey everyone,

​My dad lives in Turkey and bought a ResMed AirSense locally from a medical dealer. We've been getting "Region Mismatch" errors while trying to set up the MyAir app. ​I contacted ResMed Support, and their response was absolutely ridiculous. They checked the Serial Number and said: ​"Your device is registered as a German unit. You can only use the app if you are located in Germany." ​Turns out the local dealer sold us a grey market import from Germany without telling us. ResMed basically told me the app is useless unless we move countries.

​The Question: Has anyone bypassed this "German Serial Number" lock while living in another country? ​If I use a VPN to Germany + create a brand new account set to "Germany," will it sync via Bluetooth/Cellular? ​Or is the modem hardware also locked to German cell towers?

​I'm trying to avoid manual OSCAR reads if possible since my dad isn't tech-savvy. ​Thanks
