They truly never change

She was always a slob. Her house was a mess when we started dating. When I moved in, I managed to keep the place relatively clean, despite her leaving trash everywhere and refusing to do any kind of cleaning.

During the discard, she magically became a neat freak. She feigned an attempt to keep things organized, criticized me for not doing enough cleaning, claimed that she was the only one keeping the place clean, and reprimanded the kids for any little mess they made.

We've been separated for six months now, and I went back to the house to grab my things. The place is a complete mess. Yeah a house with kids is messy, but this was far worse than anything I allowed. Dishes all over the place. Kids toys all over every floor. Dirt and crap all over the floors and appliances.

I had accepted that the house would never be perfectly clean after having kids, but what I saw was a whole new level of dirty and slobishness.

Basically, the criticism that I didn't keep the house clean was a cheap shot. The house is so much dirtier since I left it. Part of me thought she had changed, that she was no longer a slob. But they truly never change.
