Moving to the Bullet Journal & Kindle

Misc

Two quick tips I've found are helping me continue the war against big tech staring at our screens:

- Bullet journaling. I've moved my to-do system and calendar to pen and paper. I tried bullet journaling before but it never stuck. I thought it was the system. Turned out it's actually great to plan and work from pen and paper. It's just I was too caught in the net to make it work before. This is now one less reason to open up my laptop or check my phone to check my todo app. There's also something magical when you write your goals, plans and tasks down vs typing them into an app.

- Kindle for long web articles. I've already started reading books again on the kindle. However I noticed I would occasionally catch myself reading long articles on my laptop so decided to now push them to my kindle using the chrome kindle extension. I created a quick tampermonky user script where if it detects i'm on a page with more than 1,000 words a notification appears briefly suggesting I push it to my kindle. Works a treat.

Need to constantly keep chipping away at this to make sure I keep my screen time down (down from 12-13 hours a day to 5-6 hours which is about the min I need for work).
