[Online] [DnD 5e] [Sat 6pm-10pm] 2014 rules* ISO 3-5 players for a homebrew campaign
I am looking for players to start a brand new campaign from lvl1. I have been playing/DMing DnD since roughly 2016, but have been away from the hobby for about two years now. I'm looking for players that want to be a part of world creation alongside myself - developing an entire setting is a daunting task, so the more information you're willing/able to give about the character(s) you're interested in playing, the better. I am a fan of the great wheel cosmology, but I'm not interested in creating my own setting - rather collaborating with others to produce something unique and tailored to the people at the table.
As far as my preferences go, I am into genres that incorporate themes of nature, political intrigue, technology, and the sense of being a "small fish in a big pond." The multiverse is a big place and holds within it much potential for compelling stories.
I am most familiar with the 2014 ruleset - I own basically every module produced for 2014 rules in hardback, but am always open to homebrew so long as it's grounded. I do not own the 2024 DMs guide or player's handbook, but if there are specific things in there that you would like to incorporate, I'm willing to learn about them and work those specific rules into my game. For example - from what I've been able to tell, monks got a much-needed buff in the 2024 rules, so if you want to play a 2024 monk I am all ears.
At my "table," a few expectations you and I should have:
1)Murder-hobos are banished to the astral plane. The games I run have a decent mix of RP and combat. There will be sessions entirely based in exploration/RP, and some sessions will be almost entirely combat.
2)Any blatant disrespect towards other players or myself will not be tolerated. If something flies over my head and you feel disrespected by another player at the table, please reach out to me in private. I will do my best to address this. If issues cannot be resolved, I hold the right to banish any/all offending parties to the astral plane to be consumed by an astral dreadnought.
3)If you are going to miss a session, please let me/us know as soon as you do. Even if it's just, "hey I MIGHT not be able to make this next game, but I'll let y'all know as soon as I know more," that will suffice. If you find yourself in a position where you can't make games anymore, please let me/us know. Odds are either myself or somebody else in the party will be able to accommodate your new schedule.
With that being said, here is how I plan to run games:
1)We will use discord for voice chat.
2)We will use Owlbear Rodeo as a VTT. (I also have a Foundry license and am hoping I can get that up and working at some point).
3)There will be a bot in the discord for rolling, or you are free to roll physical dice. I will be rolling physical dice unless I want the roll to be public, in which case I'll use the bot (avrae).
4)On character creation and level-ups, I will request a copy of your sheet. How you keep your character sheet doesn't really matter to me so long as I can see it.
5)Starting at lvl1 is meant to make the game accessible for everybody to learn the ropes if necessary; I promise after first session we'll level up. The first real "grind" will most likely start lvl 4-5.
----If you have any questions or are interested in joining, my Discord is "oberdober." I go by Ober, Oberdober, Obediah, Schmoberdober, Schmobermober or any bastardization thereof. Send me a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Message me with your preferred name, your age (I'm 25), your experience with DnD (0 experience is entirely fine and even encouraged), and your preferred "genre" of play -i.e. what do YOU want in a DnD game?
My hope is to have a session 0 this Saturday, 12/13/25 and a first proper session the following Saturday.
Keep in mind I am essentially nocturnal and live in the CST time zone of the US, so if I don't get back to you quickly, let me sleep.
