PC Build for 1440p gaming/streaming/casual video editing/Blender?
I'm having a hard time trying to decide what CPU and GPU I want for my new PC rig that I'm looking at getting. I'm using a website to have my PC built because I have NO PC building experience and I don't want to run the risk of doing something wrong unintentionally and then having to order a new part thus wasting money.
Here's what I have so far:
- 32GB RAM (although I will upgrade to 64GB RAM if needed)
- B850 gaming motherboard
- 3 SSD drives: one 2TB for the OS and all the programs, one 8TB for all the games and one 4TB for all the video editing assets
- The case will be a Lian Li Lancool 217
- 850W Power Supply (will change if needed)
- Either a 120mm or 140mm CPU air cooler (depending on which one will fit inside the case and not get in the way of other things like RAM slots). Nothing against liquid coolers, but I don't want to risk it leaking onto the PC, even though it's something that may unlikely happen.
What I'm going to use this new PC for is:
- Mainly gaming at 1080p, although I would like to have it future proofed so that if I decide to make the jump to 1440p, all I have to do is get a new monitor
- Streaming, even though I haven't done a lot of it
- Casual video editing, so no After Effects, 4K editing or anything complex
- I'm also looking into using Blender. When I do get the hang of using it, I'll only be doing images, and if I do decide to do animations, it'll only be 5-10 second loops.
For the GPU, I WILL* consider Nvidia (against my better judgement), but just note that the website I'm using to have my PC built only has the RTX 50 series, despite hearing that the RTX 40 series seems to be better.
For the CPU, I'm after either a Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9. Since I plan to do both gaming AND productivity with this new PC rig, I'm not going for the X3D CPUs.
Hopefully this will help in suggesting what GPU and CPU would be right for this PC build.
