How do I get better at handling rejections, without it crushing me every time?
I'm a 25 year old man who has never had any luck when it comes to dating, love or intimacy. I'm still wondering what it feels like to kiss someone, and the closest thing I've experienced was a long distance relationship where I was either lied to by a real person or catfished.
Guys always say that it gets easier with time, that eventually you'll get desensitized to it all the more you ask girls out. But that's not what I've experienced, it just hurts more and more each time. I have without fail been outright rejected or ghosted every single time I've tried asking out a girl or talking to one.
And it's grinding my confidence and self-esteem into dust. Friends and family are supportive, they keep telling me how great I am and how lucky I'll make a girl and so on. But in reality, it's no after no after no. I try to work on myself. I'm getting better with my social anxiety. I try my best to always be kind. I've been feeling better about myself ever since I started hitting the gym. I go to therapy to deal with my anxiety and other stuff. I got my degree and everything. But that's obviously not what matters, and whatever it is that matters is something I'm missing that other guys have.
So how do I deal with rejections without wanting to die? How can I take a no and not fall apart internally? I obviously know how to respectfully accept a rejection, but inside I just want to die. I feel worthless. And I don't want to. But I don't know how to.
