Afterlife - burial or cremation

Can someone please guide me on how to honour my fur son who has just passed away. I don’t know if burning him is sacrilegious…however it’s winter in Ontario and I just don’t know if I can handle digging deep enough if the earth is frozen … help me I’m mourning and feeling hopeless like I should just jump ….
