Should I wait until after knee surgery to increase from 2.5 to 5mg?
I've been lurking here for a month or so and have appreciated all I've been able to learn about this amazing medicine. The content here has answered many questions and helped my understanding of the Zep experience. I started on Oct. 29 at 221# and am now down to 202#. During the first month on 2.5 I really felt the impact of the medicine. I still liked food, but was never particularly hungry. I've always been a "closet" snacker, especially at the office and when traveling but that desire just flat stopped when I started Zep. Also, while I usually enjoy a cocktail and/or wine with dinner, I stopped that cold turkey as well, though on the weekends I allowed myself to drink...moderately...and the weight kept coming off. I really haven't had any significant side effects other than mild constipation. I did so well on 2.5 that I ordered it for a 2nd month and that's when I could feel some of those old urges coming back. The good news is that I was able to resist them due to the "training" of the first month and the positive reinforcement of losing 10+ pounds. I figured I would move up to the 5mg dose.
However, I am now scheduled for knee replacement surgery on Jan. 8 which means I will be taking my last shot on Dec. 30. My first shot of the 3rd month is scheduled for Tuesday Dec. 23. My first post-op shot will be Jan. 13. Should I hold off on increasing my dose until after surgery and just stick with 2.5 for one more month?
Thanks and apologize for the lengthy first post. I promise they will be shorter in the future!
