We're certainly strangers now

Strangers

We weren't ever much more than that when I think back on things. Our involvement was so short, and yet left such a profound impact that I still think about it years later. Realistically we were both young, and so unsure of what we wanted. I was so proud of the fact that I was dating an older woman at the time, it's so funny to me now, you were hardly a year older than me. I felt like I was in love with you, like I would've wanted to follow you wherever you went, and maybe that was true, or maybe it would've ended in disaster. Who's to say? Having been through what I have since, I'm not sure I would've actually been brave enough to follow when it came down to it.

I feel whenever I write one of these I start to ramble, I have a clear point in mind when I begin, but when I get to actively thinking about you and us I have so much I want to say. My thoughts become jumbled and then I begin to stray from the path I had intended originally, much like I sometimes feel like I've just been wandering since we exited each others worlds. Perhaps I'll keep writing these letters, perhaps not. Even when I'm struck by the thought that I haven't thought of you in a while, and I'm finally getting over it, it sparks more thoughts of you.

Farewell, for now. I'm sure you don't think of me any longer, but I still think of our time as formative for me, and look back fondly on the days we spent together.
