My Thoughts After Reaching Mythic Rank PvP (+1,000 Games)
Straight to the point: PvP in this game is 50/50, either absolutely amazing or total trash. Lag is real, and compared to China, it honestly feels like we’re playing a completely different game.
If you think it’s anything like PvE, you’re wrong. That said, you can climb very high without mastering every mechanic, animation cancel, mystic art build, or weapon combo—but the deeper you go, the more advantage you’ll have.
I reached Legend 1 in around 400–500 games, and from there everything changed. Almost everyone knew exactly what they were doing or at least had a solid plan. Some weapons are way stronger than others, and if you try to climb without them, expect a long and frustrating ride.
I was using Strategic Sword / HQ Spear and barely utilizing mystic arts properly until around 700 games. I spent a lot of time analyzing Chinese pro players, breaking down their combos and game plans. The amount I had to learn just to compete with Fan/Umbrella and Twin Blades users was far more than I ever imagined. Meanwhile, the Nameless weapon combo is insanely strong—easily Top 2, only behind Twin Blades.
My personal tier list:
- Twin Blades + anything (top tier)
- Nameless Sword + Nameless Spear / ST Sword
- Fan + Umbrella (about 80% of players using this combo sit at ~70% WR—hard to counter initially, but manageable once you learn it)
- Everything else is mostly equal or just worse than the above.
Mystic arts are mandatory if you want to win consistently. Animation canceling into combos is essential. This game has a true combo system, like fighting games, which allows for some insane plays. Everyone has a passive that eventually breaks combos after enough hits, but it’s unreliable—you’ll usually die before it triggers.
If you’re just starting out or below Legend, my advice is simple: pick your two weapons wisely, focus on combos and mystic arts, and don’t stress about losing points at low elo. Climbing from Legend 3 to Mythic is brutal—you lose 20–29 points per loss and gain only 9 per win. I fell back to Legend 1/2 so many times I thought I’d lose my mind—but reaching Mythic was worth it.
By the time I hit Legend 3, I was losing 20–29 points per loss (regardless of opponent) and only gaining 9 per win. I basically had to maintain an ~80% win rate to climb from Legend 3 to Mythic. I dropped back to Legend 1/2 so many times that I thought I’d lose my mind—but it was a personal goal, and thankfully, I finally achieved it.
I really wish the devs could see all the feedback about the lag—if that gets fixed, PvP becomes absolutely TURBO fun once you learn it. Sure, it’s infuriating to get staggered for 20 seconds by Twinblades (I was literally ready to throw my monitor out the window), but once I figured out how to beat them, the matches became ten times more fun. It finally felt like a true duel, where the winner is the one who manages their resources best and takes control of the turn.
TLDR:
- PvP is either amazing or terrible; lag makes it worse.
- You can climb without perfect mechanics, but knowing combos, mystic arts, and weapon strengths is huge.
- Strongest weapons: Twin Blades, Nameless Sword/Spear, Fan + Umbrella.
- Mystic arts + animation canceling = mandatory.
- Climbing Legend 3 → Mythic is brutal; losing many points per loss is normal.
- Once you learn counters and mechanics, PvP becomes insanely fun, like a true duel.
