Endocrinologist said there’s “no long term benefit” to treat elevated prolactin if I’m not trying to conceive
I had a follow up appointment today after a 6 week period off of cab to see how I responded post-surgery. In this time my prolactin went from around 20 ng/mL to nearly 60 ng/mL.
During my appointment my endo asked if I was trying to get pregnant. I said no.
At the end of the appointment she said I should remain off of cab for another 3 months at which time we will redo labs. She also said that there’s no health benefit to lowering my prolactin to a normal level if I’m not trying to get pregnant.
Meanwhile, my LF, FSH, and estrogen are still extremely low.
I simply don’t believe there’s no health benefit if my other hormones are being affected by prolactin. For example, normal estrogen levels are very important for bone health.
Is there something I’m missing here?
