Railroading With Events is Insane

Review

Frankly, this game feels so railroaded. I get it, firing historical events is cool and I like that. But having a scripted outcome regardless of the actual, in-game situation? Come on. In 2025 we expect better.

For example, playing as France I got this bank collapse situation. It just automatically happens, no options. The bank collapses and I can do nothing, even though I have 560k ducats in the treasury. Why isn't there an option to simply pay a huge sum to bail out the bank?

Or why are there only certain scripted events, even if you've built a nation completely ahistorically? There should be options that take account of different situations, instead of railroading us into a historical outcome that makes no sense given the game state.
