BF6’s New Update Feels Like More Proof They’re Prioritizing Everything Except Battlefield
I haven’t played the new BF6 update yet, but honestly… I don’t think I even need to. This is something I’ve been noticing for a while now, and this patch just makes the pattern even louder.
If you play Gauntlet, the hit-reg is flawless. Like genuinely clean. Maybe a rare shot doesn’t land, but compared to the core game it feels night and day. Same thing with the smaller-scale modes—they’re tight, responsive, and actually polished.
Meanwhile, the actual Battlefield experience—the big-map chaos that’s supposed to define the franchise—still deals with the same inconsistencies. California map issues, hit-reg weirdness, destruction feeling off… it’s been a trend since launch.
And here’s the wild part:
The BR map and the Gauntlet maps have better destruction than the core maps. How does a side-mode have more “Battlefield DNA” than the main game?
Months ago I made a post saying BF was basically becoming COD Ground War with a Battlefield name tag. I mentioned how the UI, menus, point systems, and even the item shop felt like MW with a different coat of paint. And a ton of people disagreed with me back then.
But now? It’s more obvious than ever.
This isn’t me hating on the game either—I’ve got 200+ hours and I still think it’s fun sometimes. But the gameplay loop is literally:
grind → grind → grind → chaos → chaos → chaos → money → money → money
It just feels like more care is being put into the parts of BF that aren’t actually Battlefield.
I hope I’m wrong, but the direction feels pretty clear. I’ll give an update and some other thoughts on map design and overall philosophy after I play the update.
