It’s not a phase! (dealing with societal norms)

Miscellaneous

Hi guys

I’m curious to know your opinions on this. I would say I’m considered alternative even though I’m in the middle of that and societal norms. I look pretty normal first glance.

I get along with people who are chill and that’s usually the skaters, artsy, nerdy, people etc.

A lot of people I hangout with dress very 90s and are very artsy. I’m a few years older than some but it’s never been weird or a problem. We are all around the same age for the most part.

When I turned 25/26 acquaintances with would point it out like it’s a bad thing that I just be vibing. Like I was supposed to start dressing like a baddie and wearing a full face of makeup. I never thought that was for me.

I enjoy wearing almost no makeup because I feel prettier. My clothes are pretty casual but in a 90’s fine type of way? I don’t want to wear something just because of my age.

I don’t mind hanging with people older or younger I’ve always been like that, I can become friends with anyone. I don’t see age as a problem especially if it’s just being friends.

I’ve gotten weird comments about how I shouldn’t talk to younger guys a couple years younger etc. I actually attract younger more than older. I do look young so that could be it.

I graduated, I have a job in my field I’m happy and don’t feel like I’m missing out on a certain lifestyle.

I’m inspired by people like Tyler the Creator & Charli xcx still being themselves in their 30’s.

Anyways, how do yall view this topic? Can you relate? I feel like society pushes things onto us when we become a certain age.
