90 Day Vacation Override - Same Day Success!

Tips/Tricks

Hi all,

Like many of you, my health insurance will not cover GLP-1 for weight loss in the upcoming 2026 year. Today I attempted my first 90 day vacation override, and it had same-day success. I just got back from Costco and have the meds in my fridge!

This may be a useful post for anyone else in the same situation. Note that typically I do a 1-month fill every 21 days, my cost with insurance is $30 however I apply the Zepbound Savings Card to drop it down to $24.99 per fill.

First, I called Navitus as my pharmacy benefits manager. I asked them if I could request a 90 day vacation override. They put me on a brief hold then told me that it was approved! However, it was only approved for today, so if I decided to fill the Rx on another day instead, I'd need to call again. This phone call was brief at 5 minutes.

I wasn't sure how this would work out, as I had assumed it would take a few days to get vacation override approval. Tomorrow, Wednesday 12/10, would normally be my 21 day refill date. My original plan was to fill tomorrow and on 12/31, which would net me 2 boxes in December. Would I be able to submit a refill today?!

Second, I called Costco as my pharmacy. I asked them if I would be able to fill for the 90 day, despite normally filling tomorrow. The technician seemed a bit confused by my question and I was passed around a bit, and placed on hold multiple times. Eventually someone tested it and confirmed that I could get the Rx filled today, and that it would only cost $24.99. I thought the price might be an error.

Third, a few hours later, I received a Costco text message that the Rx was ready and it again listed the $24.99 price. Later, I realized the savings must be related to applying the Zepbound Savings Card as my secondary insurer.

Anyways, the pick up went super smooth, and now I have three boxes in my fridge for a whopping $24.99! If you haven't done a vacation override before, I gotta say that it was pretty easy.
