The War Within Recap is terribly made and an awful way to welcome new players especially

:flairDiscussion: Discussion

With the release of housing, I've had several friends return to WoW or start playing for the first time, and all of them have done Recap. I am the terminal WoW defender, it's almost impossible for this game to get a negative thought from me, but the Recap feature is so terribly made that it's forcing new players away.

There are so many soft locks that force you to abandon and re-do quests. There are parts where it allows you to fly away and then takes away your flying, stranding you until you talk to the book. But since you're still in the same zone, the book won't TP you where it should, so you have to leave the Recap and come back.

There's also a game-breaking bug at the end of Hallowfall. Once you stop Xal'atath, you're supposed to go back to Dorn and speak to Merrix. But Merrix just isn't there, and nothing fixes it. Forums are full of hundreds of people having this same issue. My friend is currently having this exact problem and can't do anything because they're locked to that phase of Dorn. They can't even fly because it's still coded to have the Nerubians swarming. It's gotten to where they're just not wanting to continue, and they're one of two people I know facing this exact issue.

If you're welcoming players in with a feature, you have to make sure that feature is good. Otherwise all that'll happen is new players will have their first experience be a glitchy, poorly-done mess that makes them assume the entire game is like this.

I really hate dooming, but it's breaking my heart seeing my friends turn away from the game because the feature meant to welcome them is built like a ramshackle outhouse.
