Should I get my friend a baby shower gift?

I am on the fence of if I should get my friend a baby shower gift.

The history is that over the years I’ve sent my good friend care packages, cards, thoughtful wedding gifts. I don’t give gifts to get something in return, I genuinely love making people feel like they’re cared about and thought about in all of life’s moments… the good ones and the bad ones.

In the past she has said things like “gift giving is your love language, it’s not mine” and “my presence at your wedding is my gift to you”

I feel like I’m in this place where I’m constantly giving and although I don’t expect anything in return… it kind of hurts to not even get a card that says congrats on your marriage or a birthday card, especially when it’s someone so close to me.

So recently she has been bringing up her baby registry to me and making comments like “you can get me like the cheapest thing on it.” She is usually not the one to contribute to others or give gifts to others either… or if she does it is the bare minimum. Also, money supposedly isn’t the issue, she is very vocal about how money is not a problem at all.

So what do I do? One part of me feels petty in not wanting to contribute. The other part of me wants to celebrate her.
