WHV help

Hi everyone, hoping someone can clarify a few things

I’m currently on a subclass 462 WHV arrived and activated it in September 2025. I’ve been working for the same employer since then, and they may sponsor me on a temporary work visa so I could continue work beyond the 6 month limitation.

I’m planning to travel back to my home country for a long weekend in April 2026.

My questions:

1. Will travelling overseas in April affect my sponsorship application, if it hasn’t been approved yet?

• That’d mean that I’d still be on my WHV. Will going overseas cause any issues with my sponsored visa application or processing?

2. When does a Bridging Visa (BVA) activate?

• If my employer lodges my sponsored visa application while my WHV is still valid, will BVA be activated before or after Sept 2026?

But what if: • My sponsored visa is still not granted by Sept 2026 (when my WHV ends)? • Will the BVA activate automatically when the WHV expires?

3. Does the BVA allow me to keep working for the same employer while waiting?

4. Assuming my 6 months limitation with the same employer is up before the new visa is granted, can I keep working for the same employer without the restriction while waiting for the sponsored visa decision?

5. Are there any potential challenges that may arise with traveling in April based on my situation?
