Ideas and rules for 2 player

Hello, today I got my first deck (Mardu surge) and I was wondering about how flexible the rules were. I know each person has to have 100 cards but since my deck comes with swappable commanders I was wondering if I could split the deck and run 2 50 card decks as in the 5 games I’ve played I’ve never seen anyone get more than 1/4 into their deck. And ideas are welcome.(I want to spit the deck so someone else can play without buying cards)
