Is this type of subscriber-only “giveaway” normal on Twitch?

I saw something on a stream recently and wanted to get some perspective without calling anyone out.

A streamer ran a “giveaway”, but the prizes were leftover items from an advent calendar.. specifically collectible mini figures they had already opened, sorted, and kept the ones they liked. The remaining ones were then offered as sub-only prizes.

I’m not trying to accuse anyone of wrongdoing, and I’m not naming names. I’m just wondering if this is a common thing on Twitch. I always thought sub-gated giveaways were usually for new merch, game codes, or items purchased specifically for the audience, not leftover items someone didn’t want.

Is this standard practice? Or is it generally viewed as low effort? Curious how other Twitch users interpret this, since I haven’t seen it before.
