Question About Inulin Dose
Hey everybody, my girlfriend and I have been experimenting with inulin and so far it seems to be working not too bad! Unfortunately the last experience we had was too much, my girlfriend took 4 tablespoons in her tea and the next morning had insane stomach cramps which hurt really bad and ended up making her go to the bathroom. After that she felt much better however which was a relief for both of us. Mind you she is also shorter and weighs less than I do so I suspect that perhaps 4 tablespoons was just too much.
That being said, she didn't drink much water after having had it, and I have since been told that water intake is very important after having inulin not just to maximize the farting effects of it, but also to prevent cramping and getting plugged up.
Now tonight I am experimenting with inulin on myself combined with water in order to better gauge what is a good dose and is most effective without causing stomach pain so that way my girlfriend can take it and get gassy without stomach cramps. I guess tonight I am her guinea pig haha!
I will keep track of my results and what I have eaten and drank and will publish the information later. That being said, I have a question regarding dose.
I have read posts about people mentioning the dose of inulin they take and some people claim to take up to like 20g of it. When they say this, are they referring to 20g of the powder itself, or are they talking about the fiber content that is in the inulin powder? For example, 3g fiber/1 tablespoon x 7 tablespoons = 21g of fiber.
Does anyone have any information on this? I just want to make sure during my experiments on myself that I am not dosing under what I should be taking. My assumption is that they are referring to the number of grams of fiber within the inulin powder. Tonight I have taken 3 tablespoons with each tablespoon of my inulin containing 9g of inulin fiber which works out to be 27g of fiber.
I will let you all know how my experiment goes and what happens!
