critical care and mineral oil?

has anyone tried making critical care with mineral oil instead of water? no vet appointment openings for at least a month so i want to attempt to treat my chins constipation but don't want to stress him out by chasing/catching him every time i want to syringe feed him oil. i just ordered both so i have no idea if he will willingly eat critical care yet though.
