My sister just hurt my cat and most likely traumatized him.

TW: TRIGGERING CONTENT

I have a cat (M3) that while sometimes a butt, is a very affectionate boy. I’ve had him since he was only 3 months old and picked him up from a surrender.

My sister (F8) is a very rebellious neurodivergent child who has not gotten proper discipline (essentially if she wants something she’ll demand it and if she’s denied she’ll spew horrible comments to family).

Today, while I was in my room playing a game, I heard my cat screaming and constantly hissing. I walk outside to hear my mom say that he had a slap it bracelet constricting his blood flow to his back leg. It took me 7 minutes to hold him down without getting messed up by his sharp claws and get it off him with help from my mom. Once we got it off him he bolted under the living room end table. I got him to come out and at least get into my room (as he sleeps with me) and he bolted under my bed and will not come out even if I try and give him extra food.

Hopefully for him, it’s just a “give me some space” moment and not “Im traumatized, i don’t like people anymore” moment.

The slap it bracelet was for certain put into him as she even admitted it and pretended like she didn’t do anything wrong. Shes now mad at me and my mom for being not only livid but verbally raising our voice to tell her she’s wrong. Im not sure if she did that as a “get back” moment as I know I did tell her that she was not allowed to come back into my room until January for telling my mom to “F—k off” 5 minutes before the incident.

It riles me up when my sister does these things especially because she gets it from multiple bad influences and I know how to stop them but because I’m not an adult yet I cant. It’s a small topic on why Im in therapy and it has helped especially to cool down quicker. I plan to talk to her tomorrow when she gets home from school and when I’m in the right headspace so that she can understand what she did was wrong and what punishments are to follow.
