Are appointment cancellations done?
Hi everyone, I'm currently working in the US on an H1B visa which I transitioned to from my F1 OPT through a change of status petition. As a result, I was planning to travel back to my home country of India this winter to get my visa stamped. My biometrics appointment has been scheduled for Monday, the 15th of December in Hyderabad. My consular appointment has been scheduled for a week later, the 22nd of December, also in Hyderabad. My current flight ticket to travel back to India is on the evening of Thursday, 11th December, so I am writing this with around 48 hours to go before I am supposed to leave for India.
Given the news this morning regarding consular appointments being moved around, I wanted to ask the subreddit about people who have similar consular appointments as me and whether their appointments have been postponed yet or not. As of now, I have received no email suggesting any changes and in my portal my appointment dates have stayed the same. I have had my social media profiles public since filling out my DS-160 months ago and went overboard in terms of declaring every possible social media I have including Linkedin, Insta, Snap, Reddit, and so on.
I have been seeing some posts on this subreddit that also seem to suggest that people with appointments on dates up till December 26th have already been rescheduled. Does this mean that if within the next 24 hours I receive no further updates regarding my appointment, I am safe to travel back and that I am one of the 'lucky' ones who didn't get rescheduled, or is there still a chance within the next week that my consular appointment may get rescheduled and should therefore not travel on the 11th and just stay in the US and postpone my appointment? Are there any ways I can contact the consulate/any channels or places I can monitor for more clarity on the matter?
