Question for Moderators on Forum Rules: Liberal Theology

Honest question...

The explanation on Sub Rules for Liberal Theology includes this:

  • ..."Accordingly, they may argue that many of the early church fathers or the apostles were correct in what they wrote within their own cultural context, but that because we are in a different cultural context, there is room for new interpretations. Put another way, they believe that if the biblical authors were alive today they would have rejected some of their old views and re-written their letters to accommodate the new cultural climate."

According to this definition, stating that women don't need to wear head coverings, would become liberal theology, because head coverings is commanded by Paul. 1 Corinthians 11:2-16, Personally, I tend to interpret this through cultural eyes, that head coverings are not required today. I do not think that Paul was saying that hair alone is enough of a covering. I think his meaning is clear. Would not my view on head coverings break the rule on "liberal theology"?

For mods. How do you see this?

For others, are there other issues might be related to this?

Rules I'm setting up for this thread:

  1. Mods may respond however they like, wherever they like, to issues, or to responses. It would be good to understand what is and is not 'liberal theology' according to the mods.

For everyone else:

  1. A direct response to OP must be an issue, in as few words as possible, without any judgment on that issue. Eg: "Head coverings for women" or "Ordination of women"

  2. You can respond to your issue (or others) with a sub-comment stating your opinion on the issue and what makes it conservative or liberal.

  3. Be concise! No more than 2-3 sentences for Bible Reference(s), and 2-3 sentences maximum for explanation. No essays!

  4. No Debate! You may NOT respond to someone else's view. Your upvote or downvote will have to suffice.
