2026 feels like the year B2B web experiences will be forced to really evolve for AI search

everyone is talking about showing up in AI search right now. platforms like Relixir and Airops and literally a million others are popping up to help brands with AEO/GEO.

but almost nobody is talking about what happens after the buyer clicks through.

the user goes from a native AI search experience straight into a static 2020-style website. it feels like getting kicked out of the future. they go from instant answers to digging through nav bars and product pages hoping to find what the AI just told them.

some companies are trying to fix this by deployment their own intra-site AI search, but they never work well when they try and build them internally.

my guess is 2026 will be the year we start to fix that handoff. we’ll probably see new protocols that let AI search communicate more deeply with the website itself (the openai apps SDK already feels like the first hint of this).

and we’re already seeing more companies deploy AI buyer copilots on their site (Aimdoc, for SMB and mid-market B2B, Qualified for enterprise, etc.). these copilots might eventually replace static pages entirely, with AI search handing off directly to an on-site agent.

curious what others in this sub think about where this is heading.
